If you are not ready yet to shell out big money for a 4K television, a 4K computer monitor is a nice low cost alternative for a spare TV in the bedroom. For the same price as a small cheap 4K TV, you are getting a high quality PC monitor which will give you even a better picture.

Sure you are giving up a QAM tuner, although you can even add one of these if you like. 4K on NETFLIX

Netflix offers some 4K content although you will need to ensure you have set your video quality settings to High. Just know that High which is their very best video quality can use up to 3 GB per hour for HD and up to 7 GB per hour for Ultra HD. Something to think about if streaming from a broadband provider that restricts the amount of data you can use every month.

To change your Netflix video quality settings, log into your Netflix account on the web and go to the Your Account page. Choose Playback settings inside the "My Profile" section. Netflix says once you make this change, it can take as much as 8 hours to take effect. When you restrict your data usage, the quality of your videos on Netflix may suffer. SD quality only uses 0.7 GB per hour.

Netflix said they will also start tagging all their 4K content to make it easier to find using your Roku search and RSS feed.

YouTube is starting to have a lot of content uploaded in 4K. While you may not always find full TV shows in 4K on YouTube like you would on Netflix, they do have some pretty neat stuff. This will give you an idea of the kind of detail that is available in 4K. Watching 4K content is like candy for your eyes and these videos will show you how great 4K looks.
