"One of the oldest and the best platform games. It also launched the wave of several remakes and additional continuations of story of a prince from Persia."
Many of you that lived through the DOS/Atari days will remember playing Prince of Persia at least once in your lifetime. For those that haven't, this is your chance to revisit a great classic game of yesterday. By today's gaming standards it may look somewhat dated, but don't under estimate the fun factor of this cool classic game.
A private Roku channel developer, Marcelo Cabral shared this over at the Roku forum the other day and we wanted to pass it along.
Here is what the developer had to say about Prince of Persia:
"In my learning process to develop games for Roku, I decided to port a game that brings very kind memories from my youth, the classic Prince of Persia, a superb work done by Jordan Mechner in the end of the 80's.
I started to work on it in February during my free nights and weekends, and the plan is to finish it by the 30th of May (my birthday), and at that date also I will release the source code on GitHub so the Roku development community can also learn with it.
As an important note this will never be sold or a source of profit of any kind from my part, several similar projects (for other platforms) are available on the open source community.
Just released is the "Feature Complete" version of my remake of Prince of Persia for Roku. The video shows the latest features including the support for Mods.
He also went on to recommend that it only be played on a Roku 3, or 4 because this game is very graphic intensive. And to use the WiFi remote with A/B which even though is not required, it's also recommended because it's more comfortable and responsive.
