Ugoos UT2 Android Micro PC
Powerful, Affordable Ugoos UT2, Quality Streamer
Ugoos UT2 performance, specs and build quality made a lasting impression.
Ugoos UT2 - RK3188 Quad Core XBMC Micro PC Android Streamer
One thing that immediately catches your eye when setting up a Ugoos UT2 for the first time is the beautiful black brushed metal case. It has a level of detail and heft that makes it feel like it should cost much more than it's hundred dollar price tag.
It's nice to see that Ugoos decided to forgo the the cheap shiny plastic case unlike so many of it's competitors. Rather they offer the UT2 in a high quality metal case that one would normally associate with upscale products from companies like Yamaha or Denon.
What's Under the Hood?
CPU - The Ugoos UT2 comes with powerful passive cooled RK3188 Cortex-A9 Quad Core 1.6ghz
GPU - The GPU is an Embedded Mali 400 running at 500Mhz.
RAM - DDR3 2GB; 32GB Nand Flash
OS - Android OS 4.2 or 4.4 Get Latest Firmware »
Ugoos Apps
While the apps on the Ugooos platform are still rather limited and no match for Roku when it comes to the 9500 channels they have available. It does come with a few of the more important ones like YouTube, Facebook, and most importantly the Google Play store which opens up the UT2 to a large selection of apps and games. The Ugoos Luancher app is quite nice and offers a quick way to add your favorite icons out of site in a drawer. It offers a modern streamlined uncluttered look to the more conventional desktop window launcher.
The Ugoos UT2 also offers something you currently can't get on either the Roku platform or on a current generation Apple TV. The Ugoos UT2 gives you an enhanced version XBMC. This along with it's large selection of 3rd party add-ons on XBMC will give you access to pretty much any content available on the internet. Click here for the most popular and sought after XBMC add-ons.
Lose the Remote
One thing you will want to do fairly quickly is lose the remote and get a keyboard/pad combo like the excellent Logitech Wireless Touch. The remote range is rather poor and it's not up to the same level of quality as the UT2. To be fair, most people who buy this streamer do so with the intention of running XBMC and would probably upgrade to a much nicer keyboard/pad anyway.

From the long list of supported file formats pretty much anything you could possibly want to play the UT2 will support. While we did not test every file format, the UT2 had no issues playing some of the more popular and common video file formats and did so perfectly. XBMC Gotham Menus were snappy with no lag and content played beautiful in full 1080P. We were also excited to hear the UT2 can also run all 3rd party Minix x7 firmware and also supports Bluetooth 4.0 devices.

UT2 Final Word
THE UT2 has now been discontinued. We highly recommend the Nvidia Shield for the best Android PC Box. It has has updates for the last three years and it seriously out-performs every other Android box made even today.
