Which App Should You download For the Nvidia SHIELD ARM, ARM 64 Bit or X86?

This is a common question many owners of the Nvidia SHIELD have when faced with multiple choices of the 3 different app types to download.

On the NVIDIA SHIELD TV Here are the Apps To Download

For Android Apps There are Three Chipset Architecture

ARM, ARM64, x86

Choice 1 - x86 If you guessed choice one this would be wrong. X86 are files that only work with Intel processors. They will not run on your Nvidia SHIELD. The Nexus Player was one device that used X86 files.

Choice 2 - Standard Arm These files run on pretty much any Android phone or media player. Arm apps will also work fine on your Nvidia SHIELD TV.

Choice 3 - Arm64 The Tegra X1 processor used in the Nvidia SHIELD TV is an arm 64 bit CPU and it was designed to run ARM64 bit files. If you have a choice between ARM64 and ARM always choose ARM64.

So if these are your three choices, you can't go wrong with choosing either an ARM 64 or ARM apk to download to your Nvidia SHIELD TV. Just don't download X86 apps because they won't work on your SHIELD or most other Android TV boxes unless they have an Intel CPU.
