About Your Plex Server
A Plex server is really the most important piece of the Plex puzzle. It is needed to stream your media files to your TV streamers or mobile devices. If it is under powered, your performance will suffer. Generally the more devices you need to transcode and stream to at the same time, and at full 1080P HD resolution the more powerful media server needs to be.
Many people choose to use a NAS to support Plex because they are very quiet and don't take up much room. Now that QNAP is making a line of NAS boxes that can hook directly to your TV via a HDMI output and along with the included remote, it can even replace a media streamer in many cases. A NAS can also replace a large bulky PC server as well.
Try the QNAP Software
While we like Synology for their software, QNAP has been marketing many of their NAS boxes especially for Plex users and their NAS hardware is outstanding.
