The Last Quarter Roku Saw a 40% Increase In New User Accounts

Just like the little engine that could, Roku keeps outperforming industry giants. Last quarter's numbers released today by Roku, sent their stock which was in a bit of a slump lately, rocketing upwards once again. And it closed from recent lows of $27 back up to $42.

Roku Vice President said, "We're focused on making it easy to find great entertainment of all types on the platform and adding Premium Subscriptions is a natural evolution for The Roku Channel."

Both Amazon with their Fire TV and Apple with their Apple TV media streamer, also did well in media streamer sales last quarter. But Roku continues to perform really well even though they are a much smaller company.

Roku Home Screen To Get a Make Over

If you have been following our new blog over at news.tvstreamin.com we recently reported that the Roku Home Screen will soon have a new brand new look.

Roku has also been busy adding premium subscription channels to their company official streaming channel. Otherwise known as "The Roku Channel."

Soon Roku Channel users, just like on Amazon Prime Video will be able to go to one place and sign up for all kinds of premium channels like Epix, Showtime, Starz and more directly from the Roku Channel. Because this eliminates the need leave the channel and sign-up at each channel's individual website.

Customers can then easily pay one bill through their Roku media streamer account, instead of needing to pay separate bills each month to each premium subscribed streaming channel.

Premium Subscription Channels participating so far are Showtime, Starz, EPIX, CuriosityStream, Noggin, Baeble Music, CollegeHumor’s Dropout, Hopster, Magnolia Selects, FitFusion, Smithsonian Channel Plus, Tastemade, Viewster Anime, The Great Courses Signature Collection, MHz Choice plus others will undoubtedly follow.

The Roku Home Screen will soon be more integrated with their Roku Channel. Because instead of needing to be accessed as a separate channel, it will be the first you enter when you access your Roku. Read more about changes to the Roku Home Screen here...
